(KSL News) -- President Gordon B. Hinckley of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints marks a major milestone today.

Today he is 96 years and 132 days old. That is one day older than President David McKay was when he died on January 18, 1970.

As of today, President Hinckley has become the oldest Church President ever. He was born in Salt Lake City on June 23, 1910. He has served as the 15th President of the Church for more than eleven years.

Correction: The Deseret Morning News received a call saying the paper miscalculated the date in the story, because there was no leap year in 1900. That throws McKay's age off a day, so Pres. Hinckley actually surpassed the record today instead of tomorrow. The above story reflects the correction.
