CEDAR CITY — Police on Tuesday identified a 13-year-old boy who was killed after being struck by a vehicle over the weekend.

Cedar City Police Sgt. Jerry Womack said Noehren Eggett, of Cedar City, was playing “night games” Saturday night at 1330 S. Providence Drive, when he ran out onto Cross Hollow Road and in front of a car about 8:45 p.m.

Eggett was pronounced dead Sunday.

Womack said the 59-year-old man driving the vehicle that struck the boy did not show signs of impairment, and did not appear to be at fault. He added that the road doesn’t have many lights and isn’t used often, other than those traveling to a Walmart located just west of where the boy was struck.

A YouCaring page* was set up to help Eggett’s family pay for funeral funds.

“During his short 13 years, Noehren touched the hearts and lives of many people! He will always be remembered for his big smile, his kind heart, his sense of humor and his willingness to think of others before himself,” the YouCaring post said, noting he had the nickname “Dory.” “Words cannot describe how much Noehren will be deeply missed by his family and friends.”

Eggett is survived by his mother, stepfather and 11 sisters, and is preceded in death by his father, according to the page.
