OGDEN — An Ogden couple was arrested and booked into jail early Friday morning in connection with the death of their 3-year-old daughter, police said.

Emergency crews responded to a report of an unconscious child who wasn’t breathing inside a home near 28th Street and Grant Avenue about 12:20 p.m. Thursday. Responding officers found the girl, identified as Angelina Costello, dead at the scene, according to Ogden Police Lt. Danielle Croyle.

Croyle said officers noticed evidence of "abusive trauma" when they found the girl.

After an investigation conducted by Ogden police, State Medical Examiner's Office and a county investigative team, Miller Costello, 25, and Brenda Emile, 22, were arrested and booked into the Weber County Jail early Friday. Croyle said they are the biological parents of the girl.

An official autopsy was scheduled for Friday and the investigation is ongoing, Croyle said.

Croyle said two other children were living inside the couple’s home and police and the Division of Child and Family Services removed them from the home.

"This is a very labor-intensive and tragic circumstance," she said. "It's been a very sad investigation."

Croyle said police don't have much information on the couple and that they have only lived in Ogden for about a week. Police were not sure where the couple had moved from.

Court records show the couple has no major criminal history in Utah. Costello was cited for a minor traffic violation in Ogden in 2015 and in Layton in May.
