CLINTON — A garage fire severely damaged two homes and an RV in Clinton Saturday, causing more than $250,000 in damage.

Clinton Deputy Fire Chief Justin Benavides said flames were consuming the garage of a home at 950 W. 2000 North when firefighters arrived about 5 p.m.

"It was a challenging fire because of the fuel load in the garage," he said.

The fire burned the garage, melted the roof of the home and damaged the RV parked outside the garage at the time. Several propane tanks on the RV exploded in the blaze, Benavides said.

The outside of an adjacent home was also damaged, bringing the damage total to more than $250,000.

Neither of the homeowners were at home during the fire, but arrived on the scene afterward, Benavides said. Families are unable to stay the night in their homes because of the damage.

The cause of the fire was under investigation. Crews from Clinton, North Davis, South Weber, Roy, Layton, Syracuse and Weber County responded to the fire.
