COLUMBUS — After two season as Utah gymnastics’ assistant coach, Meredith Paulicivic has been hired as Ohio State’s women’s gymnastics head coach.

“I am thrilled to be named head coach at the Ohio State University,” Paulicivic said in a statement. “It’s a prestigious honor to lead this program, and opportunities like this do not come around often. I’m excited to hit the ground running and move forward with my vision.”

The announcement came Tuesday from Ohio State’s associate athletics director for sport administration, Shaun Richard.

“We are excited to have Meredith be the new leader of our women’s gymnastics program,” Richard said in a statement. “Meredith has been an integral part of an elite NCAA program at Utah. Her charisma and passion for the sport are apparent and we’re excited for her vision to guide us into the future.”

During her time with the Red Rocks, Paulicivic was the primary vault coach and was well-known for her creative floor exercise choreography. She mentored MyKayla Skinner, one of gymnastics’ best floor athletes, to an NCAA floor title and Tiffani Lewis to the Pac-12 floor championship. Utah finished fourth nationally on both vault and floor.

“I would like to acknowledge Megan Marsden and Tom Farden, my co-head coaches at Utah, for the opportunity to learn how to run a top team,” said Paulicivic. “I’d also like to thank Dr. Chris Hill, the athletics director at Utah, for hiring me back in 2015 and believing in a former student-athlete.”

Paulicivic competed for the only Utah gymnastics team to go undefeated in the regular season (1993). During her tenure as a student-athlete (1991-94), she competed on two NCAA championship teams (1992 and 1994) and became a three-time All-American on vault and a team captain as a senior.

Utah has not yet announced an assistant coach hire.
