ACCEPTING A CHALLENGE — Let’s face it: Americans like sports because we are inherently competitive.
And when your sport of choice gets canceled, postponed or rained out, that competition seeks through.
Here’s how the Cubs and Brewers scratched the competitive itch during a delay, and how two former Utah golfers competed away from the links before this week’s Byron Nelson golf tournament.
Cubs, Brewers dance off in rain delay
What do you do when your baseball game gets suspended?
If you are the Cubs and Brewers bullpens, you dance off — complete with The Worm and a handful of other … impressive … moves you might recognize.

Next, we ask you: who won this dance off?
Summerhays dunks on ‘rival’ Utah golfer
Before the opening of the Byron Nelson golf tournament last week, Farmington native Daniel Summerhays challenged Lehi resident Tony Finau to a dunk contest.
No problem for Finau; he’s 6-foot-4 and was a pretty good athlete in his day at West High. For Summerhays? He’s 5-8 … generously.
We think the former BYU golfer improvised pretty well, though.
Again, who won this round?
Cron slugs 1st homer of season
Former Utah slugger C.J. Cron has spent a good portion of the 2017 season so far with the Angels’ minor-league affiliate in Salt Lake City with a foot and hand injury. It’s not an ideal situation for any major leaguer, even a third-year pro who enjoys visiting his alma mater in Utah.
Last Sunday, he was called back up to the Angels, though. This past Sunday, he reacted well with the first home run of the season.

Cron’s grand slam gave the Angels a 5-0 lead over the New York Mets, and Los Angeles went on to win 12-5 to move to 23-23 on the season.
Welcome back, C.J.
