Pop's big tip

Yes, NBA head coaches make a lot of money. But it's still cool to see someone leave a huge tip on a bill, just because they can. Gregg Popovich left a $5,000 tip on a $800 bill.

This isn't the first time Popovich has done this, either. While Pop is sometimes a man of few words, he's not a man of few tips.

Response to ESPN layoffs

ESPN laid off more than 100 employees Wednesday in the most public-facing round of layoffs the company has had yet. Those laid off were mostly reporters and writers, not "talking heads." A few of those people were my friends, and they're understandably disappointed, and a little bit nervous about not knowing what's to come.

But one thing that does legitimately make a difference: genuine support from those in sports. Charles Barkley of NBA on TNT made this statement:

> Classy comments from Charles Barkley and [@TurnerSportsEJ](https://twitter.com/TurnerSportsEJ) during [@NBAonTNT](https://twitter.com/NBAonTNT) halftime regarding the layoffs today at ESPN. Two gentlemen. [pic.twitter.com/2PByhQm71x](https://t.co/2PByhQm71x) > > — PriceAtkinson (@PriceAtkinson) [April 26, 2017](https://twitter.com/PriceAtkinson/status/857375187905413121)

And Warriors interim coach Mike Brown shouted out Ethan Strauss, one of the departed (and one of the best writers in the NBA), before his press conference Wednesday:

> Mike Brown shouts out [@SherwoodStrauss](https://twitter.com/SherwoodStrauss) to open presser today, sends thoughts to those losing jobs at ESPN [pic.twitter.com/9RhMFk6XH6](https://t.co/9RhMFk6XH6) > > — Anthony Slater (@anthonyVslater) [April 26, 2017](https://twitter.com/anthonyVslater/status/857314772777279488)

We wish everyone laid off all the best.

Marc Davis' witty comeback

As an NBA referee, you get a lot of heckling. This is fine, but especially when you have a witty comeback to answer for it like Marc Davis did:

Don't doubt the expert!
