SALT LAKE CITY — It’s finally come: the last week of voting before Utah’s “Best Small City” is named.

It’s been fun to watch the tournament develop and see how well each city does in this quasi-scientific experiment.

In the Elite 8 round of voting, Moab and Midway pulled away from their respective opponents with ease, winning with 60 percent of the vote in each matchup, but Morgan and Kamas had a more competitive balance against their respective opponents. No. 11 Kamas escaped with a narrow win (just under 1,000 votes) over Beaver in the closest matchup of the tournament.

Moab remains a favorite to advance to the championship round but the city has stiff competition against Midway. Prior to its matchup against Beaver, Kamas has easily beat every opposing city by a large margin. Will the city struggle against Morgan or will it win by a landslide?

As a reminder, the voting will go throughout the day and will be officially called at midnight (votes after midnight will not count). Cities will advance in similar fashion to that of the NCAA Tournament, with two cities advancing to the championship round, which will take place on Friday and the winner being named Monday.

As always, there are no formal rules other than cheating or gaming the polling is not allowed. Have fun and may the “Best Small City” win.
