MAGNA — A 50-year-old man is dead after a crash involving multiple vehicles on state Route 201 Sunday afternoon, police said.
Utah Highway Patrol officials said Christopher Wilson, of Stansbury, was killed in the crash.
Emergency crews responded to a report of the crash just west of Magna at approximately 3:30 p.m., according to police.
Police said Wilson was driving a gold Toyota passenger vehicle that was traveling east on state Route 201 near milepost 2 when Wilson lost control of the vehicle and crossed into oncoming traffic, where it collided with a gold Pontiac Grand AM.
The Toyota then spun around was struck by a silver Chrysler Pacifica also traveling in the westbound lane. Another vehicle also struck the Toyota, but that driver did not remain at the scene of the crash, police said.
Police said Wilson was not wearing a seatbelt and died at the scene. A male passenger in his vehicle was taken to a local hospital with “non-life threatening injuries.”
No other injuries were reported.
Highway patrol officials said the cause of the crash is still under investigation, but said the road did have pockets of slush and snow in the area of the crash.
