SALT LAKE CITY — Week 8 of the NFL season added yet another Utah local to the NFL's injury report in Alex Smith. After eight weeks, Utah State is the only school to not see a former player lost to the injured reserve, with the Utah and BYU contingents being hit pretty severely. Three former Utes will likely miss the rest of the season, while BYU has seen three of its number lost for the season as well.

Check below for this week's performances from locals in the NFL:

BYU

  • Ezekiel Ansah, Detroit Lions, defensive end — Ansah recorded one tackle in the Lions' 20-13 loss to Houston.
  • Robertson Daniel: Baltimore Ravens, cornerback — Robertson's Ravens spent the past week on a bye and will face Pittsburgh at home this Sunday.
  • Dennis Pitta: Baltimore Ravens, tight end — Bye week, Pittsburgh next up Sunday.
  • Daniel Sorensen: Kansas City Chiefs, defensive back — Sorensen had yet another huge game for the Chiefs, recording seven tackles, a forced fumble and a tackle for loss. Sorensen, who is playing in a contract year and is a restricted free agent next season, has been setting himself up to make a lot of money in his next deal with his stellar play.
  • Kyle Van Noy: New England Patriots, linebacker — Van Noy was traded Oct. 26 to New England in exchange for tight end Alex Derby, ESPN reported. Van Noy, now in his third season and having made seven career starts, all this season, didn't play this weekend for the Patriots but figures to be a prominent part of their defense amid news that Pats' linebacker Jamie Collins has been traded.

Utah

  • Matt Asiata: Minnesota Vikings, running back — Asiata carried the ball 14 times for 42 yards in a surprising 20-10 loss to Chicago Monday night. In addition to his carries, Asiata added two catches for 36 yards.
  • Devontae Booker: Denver Broncos, running back — With teammate and fellow running back C.J. Anderson out, the workload is now Booker's to tote. After scoring his first touchdown a week ago and then being featured on ESPN's "Sports Science," Booker scored again, rushing 19 times for 54 yards and a score in the Broncos' 27-19 victory over San Diego. "Book" also caught five passes for 30 yards.
  • Paul Kruger: New Orleans Saints, defensive end — Kruger had one tackle in the Saints' 25-20 win over Seattle.
  • Star Lotulelei: Carolina Panthers, defensive tackle — Lotulelei had one of the biggest games of his career Sunday in Carolina, recording six tackles, including three sacks and a forced fumble, as the Panthers got back on track with a 30-20 win over Arizona.
  • Brice McCain: Tennessee Titans, cornerback — McCain had three tackles and a pass deflection as Titans beat the Jaguars 36-22.
  • Keith McGill: Oakland Raiders, defensive back — McGill had two tackles for the Raiders in a 30-24 win over Tampa Bay.
  • Jared Norris: Carolina Panthers, linebacker — Norris did not record a stat in the Panthers' win.
  • Tenny Palepoi: San Diego Chargers, defensive tackle — Palepoi recorded two tackles in Sunday's loss to the Broncos, and though his side lost, he still got a chance to take a postgame picture with a fellow Ute.

  • Alex Smith: Kansas City Chiefs, quarterback — Smith was 9 of 19 for 123 yards and a touchdown before being forced out of the game with concussion symptoms. Smith, who suffered two particularly vicious hits, is listed as questionable for this week's matchup with Jacksonville.
  • Steve Smith, Sr.: Baltimore Ravens, wide receiver — Smith (ankle) did not practice during last week's bye for Baltimore and is listed as questionable for the upcoming tilt with Pittsburgh.
  • Paul Soliai: Carolina Panthers, defensive tackle — Soliai recorded a tackle in the Panthers' win.
