ROOSEVELT, Duchesne County — A search is on Saturday for a man in connection with a homicide investigation after police discovered the body of a 56-year-old man in a home by police who were investigating a separate kidnapping case Friday night, Duchesne County Sheriff's Office officials said.
Duchesne County Sheriff's Lt. Jeremy Curry said James Main, Jr., 34, who police believe is involved in both cases, is currently at large.
The search for Main began after police received a report from two men that said they were abducted at gunpoint by a man at approximately 7 p.m. just north of Roosevelt, according to Lt. Jeremy Curry with the Duchesne County Sheriff's Office.
The two people told police that the man, which police identified as Main, forced them into a vehicle and to a residence in Roosevelt. When they arrived at the residence, a struggle broke out between them and another individual.
The two people told police that Main fired a shot at them before fleeing in the vehicle that belonged to one of the individuals who filed the report to police, Curry said. That vehicle was later recovered by police.
As police began the investigation of the alleged kidnapping, investigators found the body of a 56-year-old man inside a home in west Duchesne County and began a homicide investigation, Curry said.
Curry said investigators believe the two cases are connected.
Curry said Main is believed to be driving a white 2000 Ford F-250 extended cab truck and license plate A020NK. He urged that anyone that may encounter Main should use caution.
Police urge anyone that may have information regarding Main’s whereabouts should call 435-722-4558.
