SOUTH SALT LAKE — SOUTH SALT LAKE — A deliberately set fire caused $100,000 in damage to a South Salt Lake home Wednesday, authorities said.
The fire near 3600 South and 300 East was reported around 2:40 p.m. One person who was initially at the scene "ended up confessing" to starting the fire on purpose and was arrested, said South Salt Lake Fire Deputy Chief Terry Addison. A fire accelerant was used to help spread the fire, he said.
No other information was immediately released about the person allegedly responsible.
The interior of the home was completely destroyed, though it wasn't clear Wednesday if the structure would be a total loss, according to Addison. Two residents were displaced.
No injuries were reported.
