SALT LAKE CITY — Two stolen vehicles were involved in a collision that closed an intersection Saturday around 9:30 a.m.
A man speeding eastbound in a stolen GMC truck ran a red light and broadsided a BMW turning south at 3900 South and State Street.
The BMW was knocked eastward across the intersection and struck a grey Subaru stopped in the northbound left turning lane. The Subaru skidded two lanes eastward.
The BMW was knocked eastward, then hit a motorcyclist arriving at the intersection, according to South Salt Lake City police officer Mitch Howard. The motorcyclist was unconscious and transported from the scene in critical condition. He was also treated for a broken foot at the hospital, Howard said.
Witnesses said the driver of the grey Subaru "limped" away from the scene on foot and officers later found the Subaru was also a stolen vehicle.
The driver of the BMW was transported from the scene in serious condition after suffering bruising and lacerations. The GMC driver suffered a broken pelvis and lacerations to his face.
