HELPER — A crash near the border of Carbon and Utah counties left a Manti man dead Friday.

The crash occurred at about 7:30 p.m. on an unnamed dirt road off of Emma Park Road about 15 miles north of Helper, Utah County Sheriff's Sgt. Spencer Cannon said.

The man, identified as 43-year-old John Mulder of Manti, was driving an off-highway vehicle and witnesses saw him lose control of the OHV and roll off the dirt road he was driving on, Cannon said.

Cannon added that there were no "obvious injuries, but Mulder may have sustained serious internal injuries."

A passenger in the fatal victim's car suffered minor injuries.

Cannon said investigators believe alcohol may have factored in the crash, based off evidence found at the scene.
