SUNSET — One person was killed and two others were critically injured after all three were ejected in a crash Tuesday evening that shut down all southbound traffic on I-15 near Sunset in Davis County.
A man, woman and "small child" were in an SUV that rolled around 7:43 p.m. on the freeway in Sunset, said Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Todd Royce.
The SUV drifted to the left for an unknown reason, overcorrected to the right and then rolled multiple times, ejecting the three occupants, Royce said.
The woman died at the scene. The man was taken to a nearby hospital by ambulance in critical condition. The child was flown by helicopter to Primary Children's Hospital, also in critical condition.
All southbound lanes were expected to remain closed until at least 9:30 p.m., he said.
It's "most likely" nobody in the SUV was wearing a seat belt, Royce said.
"Make sure you wear seat belts," he said. "(We believe) that nobody was restrained in that crash. Please, please, please wear your seat belts."
No names or ages were immediately released.
