SALT LAKE CITY — A woman who police say nearly ran over a South Salt Lake police officer last June was arrested over the weekend.

A warrant was issued in August for Erin Kallie Geisler, 32, on a charge of assault on a police officer, a second-degree felony; failure to respond to an officer's commands, a third-degree felony; and having an open container in a vehicle, a class C misdemeanor.

In June, a South Salt Lake officer pulled over a vehicle near 3300 South and 300 West that was driving without its headlights on, according to charging documents. Geisler stopped but would not roll down her window or open the door, the charges state.

Geisler then put her car in reverse, backed up toward the police patrol car, then "accelerated forward, and her vehicle brushed (the officer's) leg as he jumped out of the way to avoid being hit," the charges state.

Other agencies spotted her on the freeway traveling 90 mph before terminating the pursuit.

On Sunday, Geisler was arrested by Murray police on multiple warrants, including lewdness, shoplifting and drug possession, in addition to assault on a police officer.
