SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah Division of Wildlife Services asked the public for help Monday while investigating two separate poaching cases.

In both instances, officials said an animal was shot and left to waste. Those who provide information that leads to the successful prosecution of the poachers responsible may receive a reward, according to the DWR.

The remains of a buck pronghorn were found off Old Wellington Road, north of Wellington in Carbon County, on March 19. Investigators said it appeared the buck was shot with a .22-caliber bullet through the neck sometime between March 12 and March 19.

The remains of the second animal, a 20-inch 4x4 buck deer, were discovered near Beaver City on March 13, according to the DWR. Investigators said the buck was shot and its carcass was left under the “B” written on a mountain near the city sometime in December or January.

Anyone with information about either poaching case can call the DWR’s Utah Turn in a Poacher hotline at 1-800-662-3337.
