Utah Valley rolls to 88-77 win over Texas-Rio Grande Valley

EDINBURG, Texas (AP) — Marcel Davis scored 23 points to lead Utah Valley to an 88-77 win over Texas-Rio Grande Valley on Thursday night.

Jaden Jackson added 15 points for the Wolverines (10-13, 4-4 WAC) and Dayon Goodman had 14. The Wolverines hit 54 percent of their 65 shots from the field to snap a two-game skid and get the season sweep over Rio Grande Valley (6-17, 2-6).

Utah Valley closed out the first half with a 7-0 burst fueled by Davis and Darrious Hamilton to take a 42-35 advantage into the break. Rio Grande Valley edged back into the lead midway through the second half with a 6-0 spurt capped by J.J. Thompson's 3-point play to make it 55-52 but the Wolverines reclaimed the advantage for good by scoring the next 10 points.

Dakota Slaughter's 15 points led five Rio Grande Valley players in double figures.
