SALT LAKE CITY — Police are searching for a 6-year-old Stansbury Park girl believed to be with her mother after the two of them went missing amid a pending investigation from the Utah Division of Child and Family Services.

Carrie Sutanto, 41, hasn't been heard from since Wednesday, when she learned the division was "opening an investigation," the Utah Department of Public Safety's Bureau of Criminal Identification said in a statement.

Audrey Sutanto, 6 years old, is 3 feet 6 inches to 4 feet tall and weighs roughly 40 pounds. Audrey has long black hair and brown eyes and is described as part Caucasian and part Asian.

The girl's mother is white, about 5 feet 5 inches tall, weighs 150 pounds and has brown eyes and brown hair. She typically wears brown boots and yoga pants, according to investigators. The Department of Public Safety says she is her daughter's "custodial mother," but has apparently experienced problems with mental health.

The mother and daughter are both considered to be missing endangered persons, according to police.

"The mother had been struggling with mental health issues for several months and may (be) behaving irrationally," investigators said in a statement.

Using cellphone information, investigators believe it's possible the Sutantos were near North Temple and 400 West in Salt Lake City. Their vehicle is a metallic green 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe with a temporary license plate.

Anyone with information about the whereabouts of the mother or daughter is asked to call the Tooele County Sheriff's Office at 435-833-8321 or a local police agency.
