FROM DOWNTOWN — The NFL wrapped up the regular season Sunday … which means it's basketball season, right?

OK, so we'll wait until the playoffs are done, too — not to mention a little thing called the Super Bowl.

In the meantime, here are a few highlights from the weekend in sports — including a former BYU star doing something uncharacteristic in the D-League.

Jimmer ... Jammer?

BYU fans still remember former All-American Jimmer Fredette, who scored from all over Provo before being taken by the Sacramento Kings with the No. 9 overall pick in the 2012 NBA draft.

Fredette fell out of favor with several NBA teams, most recently the New Orleans Pelicans, and he's gone to work in the D-League with the Westchester Knicks to try to revive his struggling career and earn a contract.

The former Naismith national player of the year was known for his long-range shot, hitting pull-up 3-pointers from halfcourt and beyond while treating games in the Marriott Center like he had just challenged older brother T.J. to a game of H-O-R-S-E in the driveway. But the Glens Falls, New York, native rarely — if ever — showed off his hops in a blue uniform.

He saved that for Westchester, apparently.

Wait, let's take a look at that again.

Dunk, or not a dunk? Let us know in the comments below, because even the KSL sports staff disagrees. More importantly, who else was impressed with Fredette's steal that led to the easy dunk in transition?

Fredette nearly had a triple-double to go along with that dunk in the Knicks' 106-98 win over the Delaware 87ers on Saturday. He finished with 27 points, 11 rebounds and eight assists for 13-5 Westchester, where he is averaging 23.5 points per game and shooting at a 47 percent clip from 3-point range.

I guess you could say Fredette was on fire Saturday. Kind of like this Buffalo Bills fan ...

Bills fan lights self on fire at final home game

Some fans are crazy about their team, but one Buffalo Bills fan appears to be a next level of crazy.

Before the Bills' regular-season finale, one fan decided to ... well, we're not sure what he was trying to do. But he ended up getting himself caught on fire.

Helpful friends tried to extinguish the blaze using water bottles and cans of ... we're going to say soda. Because there's no way alcohol played a role in this incident ... right?

Of course, one team that will be playing next week is Denver. And the reason why is because ...

Manning leads Broncos to come-from-behind win, No. 1 seed in AFC

Peyton Manning did an un-Peyton Manning-like thing Sunday afternoon, and it wasn't lead Denver to a win.

It was coming off the bench to pick up the victory in relief for the first time in his 18-year career.

Manning replaced struggling starter Brock Osweiler as the former Arizona State standout struggled against San Diego in the Broncos' regular-season finale.

So Manning, likely the greatest backup quarterback in the NFL this past week, took the ball and downed the Chargers.

Here's how Osweiler explained the moment he was pulled from the game to media in the locker room.

And here's how the Denver crowd reacted to Manning entering the game in the third quarter.
