MOAB — A 24-year-old man visiting Utah from New York died after falling an estimated 750 feet from a cliff at Dead Horse Point State Park, officials said.

Michael Albu, from College Point, New York, was traveling in San Juan County alone, and no one witnessed the fall, according to the San Juan County Sheriff's Office.

Albu's family contacted the state park Tuesday and said he was overdue in contacting them.

State park rangers found Albu's car in the park around 3 p.m. Tuesday and searched trails near steep cliffs, officials said.

The state park rangers located Albu's body just before it went dark Tuesday. The San Juan County Search and Rescue Team, Utah State Park Rangers and Classic Air Medical extricated his body just before noon Wednesday.

The San Juan County Sheriff's Office is investigating the situation, but they do not suspect foul play and believe it was an accident. It is unknown when Albu fell to his death.
