McCaw, Jones combine for 43; UNLV beats Southern Utah 84-64

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Patrick McCaw scored 24 points and Derrick Jones Jr. added another 19 and UNLV cruised to an 84-64 win over Southern Utah Wednesday night.

McCaw has scored in double digits in all three of UNLV's three wins to start the season, including 15 in the season opener against Cal Poly and 11 in the 107-45 win over New Mexico Highlands.

McCaw scored seven points in the span of less than two minutes to spark a run that extended a 22-21 lead to a 45-31 halftime advantage.

UNLV shot 46.9 percent from the field (30 of 64), including 5 of 20 from distance.

Travon Langston and Trey Kennedy each scored 10 points to lead the Thunderbirds (0-2), who played their first game since losing to No. 16 Utah in Friday's season opener, 82-71.
