HEBER CITY — A man was arrested on suspicion of attempted homicide after he shot at his wife multiple times during a domestic dispute Thursday, police said.
Police said the dispute appeared to be "fueled" by alcohol and that the man fired multiple rounds at his wife as she tried to flee at about 8:30 p.m. The woman's vehicle was hit by two 9mm rounds and three bullets damaged a neighbor's garage after ricocheting, according to the Heber City Police Department.
"As she's trying to pull out of the driveway he's leveling a 9mm at her and he's blanking away at her," said Heber City officer Xela Thomas. "She actually hit a car. She hit his truck twice trying to get away. It kind of shows you how desperate she was to get away."
The fight that led to the attempted homicide was "extremely petty," according to Thomas. She said the man was extremely intoxicated, but the woman was not.
Two children belonging to the couple were inside the Heber home at the time of the incident, according to police. They reported that the wife and both children were not injured during the altercation.
Shane Christopher Kendall, 36, was arrested and booked into the Wasatch County Jail. Police said he could potentially face charges that include attempted homicide, discharge of a firearm, aggravated assault, abuse in the presence of a child, threat with a weapon and carrying a weapon while intoxicated.
