WEST VALLEY CITY — Authorities are in the process of investigating a residence where two people were found dead Sunday near 2500 West 3000 South according to Roxanne Vainuku, a spokesperson for West Valley police.

Police indicated Sunday evening that the incident appears to be a murder-suicide, but were cautious to make conclusions pending an autopsy.

Thirty-nine-year-old Noelia Popoca of Salt Lake City and a man whose identity has not been released pending family notification were found after a family member of Popoca placed a 911 call Sunday morning at approximately 8:10.

When EMS responded to the residence inside of Mountain View Mobile Home Park, they found two bodies, and West Valley police began work to secure a search warrant to further investigate the trailer where the man and woman were found.

"Right now, there are a lot of unanswered questions," Vainuku said, but she did say that police are investigating the deaths as suspicious.

Forensic experts began to process the scene at approximately 6 p.m. Sunday.

Vainuku said that the medical examiner's office has taken custody of the bodies and will be performing autopsies to more accurately determine cause of death. Vainuku indicated that she did not believe guns were involved.

Police also towed two vehicles parked outside the mobile home to examine them for evidence.

Police do not know the specific relationship between Popoca, but Vainuku said it appears the two have known each other for "some time."

More information will be posted as it becomes available.
