SALT LAKE CITY — Coming off its down-to-the-wire victory over then-undefeated Cal, Utah moved up in the rankings again.
Utah moved up to No. 4 in the Associated Press Top 25 Poll and stayed the same at No. 7 in the Amway USA Today Coaches Poll. Utah was five votes away from taking the No. 3 spot. The No. 4 ranking is the highest regular-season ranking for Utah in school history. The Utes were previously ranked No. 5 in the AP Poll.
The Utes continued to see first-place votes rise among AP voters, as they garnered 16 first-place votes this week, which is second only to Ohio State's 27 votes. Last week, Utah received seven first-place votes for the most behind No. 1 Ohio State.
Utah continues to hold strong at No. 1 in ESPN's power rankings, which were released Sunday, and they have moved up to No. 4 in the FWAA-FWW Super 16 Rankings this week with 6 first-place votes. Last week, Utah was ranked No. 6 with first-place votes in the FWAA-FWW Super 16 Rankings.
The Pac-12 had four teams ranked in the Top 25, with Utah remaining at the top, followed by Stanford (No. 15/16), UCLA (No. 18/18), and Cal (No. 23/23). USC dropped from the polls after losing last week. Arizona State, USC and Washington all received votes in both polls.
Ohio State remains the No. 1 team in the country with 27 first-place votes and likely will until they lose, if ever. The Buckeyes are followed by No. 2 Baylor, No. 3 TCU, No. 4 Utah and No. 5 Clemson in the AP Poll.
