LOGAN — A man allegedly used a handgun to assault a woman in Logan Tuesday night.

Police asked the public for help Wednesday to locate 31-year-old Ryan Joe in connection to the incident, which occurred near Talon Drive and Black Hawk Drive in Logan at about 10:30 p.m.

"Officers were informed a male had assaulted a female by striking her with a handgun," a post on the Logan City Police Department's Facebook page reads. "It was reported the handgun was fired and the male fled on foot prior to officers' arrival."

No one in the area reported being shot, but the woman was treated on scene for other injuries sustained during the assault, according to investigators. Police and SWAT team members set up a perimeter around the area after the incident, but were unable to locate the man who allegedly struck the woman.

Anyone with information about the incident or Joe's location can contact the Logan City Police Department by calling 435-753-7555.

The incident is still under investigation.
