BOUNTIFUL — A search for a missing 13-year-old boy began in Bountiful Sunday morning and ended that evening in Holladay, police said.

I talked to @bountifulcityPD and broke the news to #SamiGuesmi's father that his son was found, he was in tears. @KSL5TV — Nicole Vowell (@NicoleVowellKSL) September 28, 2015

Sami Guesmi, 13, was believed to be missing and endangered, according to Lt. Dave Edwards of Bountiful Police Department before being found at approximately 7 p.m. Sunday evening. A citizen recognized Guesmi Sunday and forwarded that tip on to the Unified Police Department, according to Bountiful PD. UPD responded and were able to positively ID him.

Police said Guesmi was found safe, but it is unclear why he was in Holladay. Bountiful PD confirms he is now back home with his father.

Guesmi was believed to have possibly had contact with an unidentified adult, Edwards said. Guesmi left his cell phone at home, and his call records showed a call to a remote messaging site just before he left home, according to Edwards. Police were unable to determine who was on the other end of this call, Edwards said.

The good news is #SamiGuesmi is safe his family says. @KSL5TV — Nicole Vowell (@NicoleVowellKSL) September 28, 2015

Guesmi did not have a history of leaving home for extended periods of time, Edwards said. He had talked to his father about attending Comic Con in Salt Lake City, but it is unclear whether or not he ended up there at some point.
