MIDVALE — Unified police have identified a person of interest in connection with a fatal hit-and-run crash Thursday night.

Ronald Charles Renfro, 56, was crossing 7200 South at 50 West about 6:40 p.m. when he was hit by a 2016 Ford Escape. Renfro was taken to a nearby hospital where he died from his injures.

Witnesses told police the driver was a white woman or teenage girl with blonde hair. The vehicle involved in the accident was a white Escape with Utah license plate No. X953XS. The vehicle was listed as a stolen rental car from Enterprise in Salt Lake City on Sept. 11, said Unified Police Sgt. Jared Richardson.

Unified police detectives were able to contact the person listed as the renter of that vehicle, Mika Lindquist, 31, of Salt Lake County. She has long blonde hair, according to a picture released by police.

Lindquist initially talked to investigators several times by phone, Richardson said, but she has since cut off all contact with officers. Because of that, detectives on Friday issued a bulletin for all of its officers to watch for her and take her into custody when she is found. Richardson said she is considered a "person of interest" only at this time.

Investigators say the vehicle involved in the accident should have noticeable damage to its windshield and right front fender.

Court records show an eviction notice was filed against Lindquist in November. Since then, she has been charged 10 times in various justice and district courts for mainly traffic violations, including failing to register her vehicle and speeding. She was charged with drug possession and failing to register her vehicle in 3rd District Court in March. She failed to appear for her preliminary hearing in that case on Sept. 10 and a warrant was issued for her arrest, according to court records.

She was also charged with shoplifting on Wednesday in Salt Lake City Justice Court, according to court records.

Anyone with information about the car or the driver can call Unified police at 801-743-7000.
