PROVO — BYU announced a future football game with Oregon in 2022 at Autzen Stadium, the first meeting between the two schools since 2006.

The Cougars will travel to Eugene, Oregon, on Sept. 10, 2022 for a one-off road game. Since BYU went independent in 2011, the Cougars have played every Pac 12 team except newcomer Colorado. Future schedules include every current Pac 12 team except the Buffs and Oregon State.

"It's a great opportunity to play an outstanding football team from the Pac 12," athletic director Tom Holmoe said in a statement. "Oregon had an opening in its 2022 schedule and the circumstance was right for BYU. We hope to develop a long-term relationship with Oregon."

The Ducks have not formally announced their non-conference schedule for 2022. Oregon currently games against Ohio State in 2020 and 2021, Hawaii in 2020, 2023 and 2024, and North Dakota State in 2020.

The game is the fourth announced date for the 2022 schedule, joining a home game against South Florida on Sept. 23 and a pair of road games at Boise State on Oct. 8 and at Stanford on Nov. 26.

BYU is 3-3 all-time against the Ducks, with the last meeting coming in the 2006 Las Vegas Bowl in a 38-8 win for the Cougars. The Cougars are 8-9 all-time against teams from the state of Oregon.

John Beck led BYU to the victory in Las Vegas, which was the Cougars' first win in a bowl game since 1996. The game was the second of 10-straight bowl games for the Cougars under head coach Bronco Mendenhall, a streak that includes six wins and four losses.
