PRICE — Investigators in Carbon County say they have arrested an Adult Probation and Parole agent for allegedly having sexual contact with a probationer.

Samual Thomas Bowman, 34, was arrested Tuesday night by members of the Carbon Metro Drug Task Force, according to a statement issued Thursday by the Price Police Department.

Bowman's arrest followed a tip from a confidential informant, who told drug task force officers that Bowman was involved in a sexual relationship with a woman he supervises on probation, police said.

Task force officers said they observed the woman and Bowman together in Bowman's state vehicle on Tuesday in the Farnham Road area of Carbon County, south of Wellington.

Bowman was booked into the Emery County Jail for investigation of custodial sexual misconduct. He later posted bail and was released.

Bowman has worked for the Utah Department of Corrections since 2006 and is assigned to the AP&P office in Price. He has been placed on administrative leave pending an internal investigation, according to Corrections spokeswoman Brooke Adams.

The Carbon County Attorney's Office is reviewing the case to determine if any criminal charges will be filed.
