SALT LAKE CITY — Each Wednesday the Best Friends Animals Society comes to KSL-TV's studios to feature a pet that needs a forever home.

Bear is an 8-month-old pit bull terrier mix who is still a playful puppy — a giant, playful puppy, according to Best Friends Animal Society spokeswoman Temma Martin.

This pup is a handsome boy who is currently fostered. Bear is as happy as can be and he's good with other dogs, cats and kids. In other words, he the ideal family dog.

"He's a super sweet dog and is ready to go home," Martin said.

If his happy, easy-going demeanor and handsome good looks aren't enough to tempt you, Bear has one more special trait; he's got a ticklish spot on his neck that he loves to have scratched.

The Best Friends Animal Society is also preparing for its semi-annual No Kill Utah Super Adoption weekend. On Oct. 2-3 at the Utah State Fairpark, over 800 animals from dozens of shelters and rescue groups will be available for adoption.

"It's the best variety of animals to choose from, and they're all adoptable," Martin said.

If you are interested in a pet featured on Pet of the Week, you can call the Best Friends Animal Society at 801-574-2454. Animals featured on the show remain at the Sugar House Pet Adoption Center, located at 2005 S. 1100 East, at least throughout the day they are featured and often beyond. Call ahead before visiting to ensure the animal is still available for adoption.

The Best Friends Animal Society works with 52 shelters around the state to help facilitate adoptions. All animals featured are spayed or neutered, have a microchip and are vaccinated. Adoption fees vary. To see more animals available for adoption or to the adoption center's monthly specials, visit their website at utah.bestfriends.org.
