WEST VALLEY CITY — A woman died after being hit by a pickup truck while chasing after her dog on Redwood Road on Saturday, police said.

Stacey Craig, 41, was walking her dog on the west side of the road near 3395 South when it ran into the street, according to West Valley police spokeswoman Roxeanne Vainuku. Craig went after the dog and was struck by a southbound pickup about 9:30 p.m.

Several witnesses called police and tried to administer CPR, but the woman was dead at the scene, according to police. The 25-year-old driver was not injured, Vainuku said.

The dog was unharmed and turned over to animal control.

Detectives are reviewing the evidence to determine if any charges are appropriate, Vainuku said.
