SALT LAKE CITY — Each Wednesday the Best Friend's Animals Society comes to KSL-TV's studios to feature a pet that needs a forever home.

Edgar is a human-loving, 9-year-old pit bull-terrier mix, according Temma Martin from the Best Friend's Animal Society. This breed has a smaller frame than other pit bulls.

Those who know this pup at Salt Lake Animal Services describe Edgar as the "sweetest dog you'll ever meet." He does well with a leash, and he's snuggly and sweet, not to mention handsome.

"He likes most other dogs, but he might be a little big picky just because he's 9 years old and he's set in his ways. He's a cute, little old man," Martin said.

To see more of Edgar, watch the video above.

National Dog Day is a perfect time to adopt Edgar, or any dog, but if you can't adopt or don't have a dog in your life to help you celebrate, you have other options. Martin said you can volunteer a or donate blankets, toys, peanut butter and money at any local shelter. Or you can watch this video.

The Huffington Post partnered with the Best Friend's Animal Society in New York City to make a sweet video where adoptable dogs take over a kissing booth.

The article says "snouts are nuzzled with reckless abandon and tongues go flying" in the video, which is certainly the case. It's 100 percent slobbery, puppy love.

If you are interested in a pet featured on Pet of the Week, or adopting any animal, you can call the Best Friends Animal society at 801-574-2454. Animals featured on the show remain at the Sugarhouse pet adoption center, located at 2005 S. 1100 East, at least throughout the day they are featured and often beyond. Call ahead before visiting to ensure the Pet of the Week animal is still available for adoption.

The Best Friend's Animal Society works with 52 shelters around the state to help facilitate adoptions. All animals featured are spayed or neutered, have a microchip and are vaccinated. Adoption fees vary. To see more animals available for adoption or to the the adoption center's monthly specials, visit their website at utah.bestfriends.org.
