SALT LAKE CITY — Police have identified and arrested the man allegedly responsible for firing more than 20 shots at an apartment with two young children inside.

Tyrel Maleek Foreman, 19, also known as "Lucky Loc," was located Thursday night at an apartment in the Millcreek area and arrested without incident. Foreman had been listed as one of the Metro Gang Unit's Top 10 Fugitives and is a member of the Lay Low Villain Crips, a violent Salt Lake County street gang, according to Unified police.

The shooting occurred July 21 just after 4 a.m. at the Atherton Park Apartments at 4545 S. 1075 West, police said. A witness told investigators a silver car pulled up to the apartments, and two men got out and opened fire. Investigators recovered more than 20 shell casings at the scene and said 29 shots had been fired.

The rounds entered through an apartment window and "narrowly missed" a sleeping 11-month-old in the room and a 2-year-old in an adjacent room, police said. The parents of the children were sleeping in the living room and police said, if they had been in their bedroom and sat up during the shooting, they would have been hit.

No one was harmed in the shooting, and the baby was physically unharmed when broken pieces of glass from the window fell into the crib.

Police said the two gunmen seemed to be aiming for the victim's apartment, but they didn't know if the family members were the intended targets. The victims told police they had lived in the apartment for only three months, and neighbors said one of the previous tenants had been dealing drugs from the apartment.

Foreman was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail with a $250,000 warrant for 29 counts of felony discharge of a firearm.
