WESTVALLEYCITY — Police took one person into custody and are searching for three others after a foot chase through a West Valley City neighborhood and golf course.

The chase started around 1 a.m. when an officer recognized a stolen car in the area of 3500 South and 4000 West, according to Lt. Jeff Conger with the West Valley City Police Department.

The officer started chasing the car, then four people exited the vehicle and hopped a fence at the Stonebridge Golf Club. One of those people dropped a handgun as they ran, Conger said.

Eventually K-9 officers found one of them, a man, hiding under the porch of a home by the golf course, but three people are still on the loose.

Conger said officers also found in the car two more guns, a laptop computer, a table saw, and a few other items that appear to be stolen.

"So most likely they were probably in the area looking for vehicles to burglarize or homes to burglarize, something of that nature. Luckily we got them off the street before they could do that," Conger said.

He said police do not have a good description of the two men and woman they are still looking for. They are believed to be in their 20s and were wearing dark clothing.
