Alleged child sex abuser on the run for 17 years arrested in Utah

SALT LAKE CITY — A man the run for 17 years was arrested Wednesday in Utah, police in California confirmed.

William Lloyd Balser, 56, evaded police since February 1998 before his arrest this week, according to police in Manteca, California. Balser was reportedly arrested with one other person.

Balser was wanted for alleged offenses in California that included unlawful sex with a child, lewd acts with a child, and continuous sexual abuse of a child.

Balser was also on the Most Wanted List published by the Manteca Police Department. Other details about his arrest and alleged criminal history were not available Thursday night.
