HOLLADAY — At least one woman ran out of a home where a man was firing shots Wednesday afternoon, police said.

The man fired several rounds inside and outside the home at 1670 E. Fieldcrest Lane while officers were escorting the woman to safety, according to Unified Police Deputy Chief Justin Hoyal. Another woman possibly ran out before the man gave himself up and possibly also while shots were being fired, Hoyal said.

Nobody was harmed in the incident that was called in around 4:30 p.m.

The 50-year-old man, who lives at the home, allegedly came onto the front lawn, laid down and told police he had been shot by multiple people who were after him. However, the man had suffered no gunshot injuries despite having a few scrapes and bruises, Hoyal said.

The alleged shooter had two handguns with him when he was taken into custody by police, according to Hoyal. The man, whose name wasn't immediately released, was taken to a nearby hospital for a psychiatric evaluation.

Police didn't say why the man was allegedly firing shots. It wasn't immediately clear whether he was believed to be targeting the women or what their relationship is to him.

Officers evacuated nearby homes before the alleged shooter was taken into custody, Hoyal said.
