PROVO — A Springville woman suffered critical injuries after the car she was in plunged down a 100-foot cliff and may have rolled over her, police said.
Kenzie Morgan, 18, was a passenger in a car with a 16-year-old driver Sunday morning when police say the vehicle went around a curve too quickly and tumbled down a cliff in the Hobble Creek Canyon area in the mountains east of Provo.
Morgan suffered a broken pelvis and ribs and was ejected in the crash, said Utah County Sheriff's Sgt. Spencer Cannon. It is possible the vehicle rolled over Morgan, Cannon said.
Morgan was airlifted to Utah Valley Regional Medical Center in Provo and later taken to Intermountain Medical Center. She was in critical but stable condition Monday and is expected to survive.
Morgan was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, according to Cannon.
The driver of the vehicle suffered minor injuries and was treated at a nearby hospital. Cannon didn't know whether the driver was wearing a seat belt.
