SALT LAKE CITY — Police are investigating a possible lewdness case after two teenage girls reported that a man exposed himself to them near the entrance of a popular water park Monday.

The man was standing behind a wall near the entrance of Seven Peaks Water Park at 1200 W. 1700 South when the girls saw him at about 4 p.m., according to the Salt Lake City Police Department. Investigators said they saw the man stroking his genitals on the outside of his tight shorts before lifting the shorts to expose himself.

The two teenagers went to find their father after the incident, but the man left when he saw them talking to their father, according to police. They said the father did not see the man before he fled.

"These kids did exactly what they should — and that is to alert an adult or law enforcement officer or employee of the establishment," said Salt Lake City police detective Cody Lougy.

The man was described by investigators as being a white male who is about 60 years old and has grey hair. He was wearing tight navy blue shorts and a cut-off white shirt at the time of the incident.

Officers were unable to locate the man when they arrived, but Lougy said they are still investigating the case and have a person of interest.
