SALT LAKE CITY — A Salt Lake man was charged Wednesday with stabbing another man multiple times, leaving a piece of knife in his skull.
David Jeppson, 25, was charged in 3rd District Court with attempted murder, a first-degree felony.
On July 7, Salt Lake police officers responding to a stabbing near 700 North and 900 West and found a man "lying in the street with several large and deep lacerations on his face, head and scalp," charging documents state.
Investigators also followed a blood trail to a nearby apartment where blood was found "spattered and wiped on and around the door," according to the charges. When Jeppson, who was inside, refused to answer the door, the officers asked if he was injured. He replied, "Someone else is," the charges state.
Jeppson and the victim are roommates. Doctors reported that the victim was stabbed approximately 20 times, and underwent brain surgery to remove a piece of the knife that penetrated his skull, according to the charges.
Bail for Jeppson was set at $250,000.
