PARK CITY — A new prime-time television show will be calling Park City Film Studios home.

The newly opened studio announced this week that ABC's "Blood & Oil" will set up shop at the 374,000-square-foot mixed-use facility for its first season. It will be the first network series to be filmed in Utah in a decade.

"It's highly unusual for a brand-new studio to be selected for major production, so you can imagine that we are very excited to be working with ABC on this project," studio owner Greg Ericksen said in a release.

Park City Film Studios opened its doors earlier this year just off U.S. 40 near the Park City/Kamas exit. It includes three soundstages, production offices and stages for digital motion capture and special effects.

"You can shoot anything in here that anybody would want to go to Hollywood to shoot," Ericksen told KSL in January.

"Blood & Oil" has taken over the whole production facility, as well as three additional spaces and offices, according to Ericksen.

The new series — which stars Don Johnson, Chace Crawford and Rebecca Rittenhouse — follows a young couple as they chase fortune in North Dakota following the biggest oil discovery in American history, according to ABC. Once there, they find themselves going head to head with a ruthless oil tycoon, risking it all for riches.

"The Park City Film Studio played a key role in attracting (the show)," said Virginia Pearce with the Utah Film Commission. "We're excited for the studio to be included in our film industry resources."

The studio estimates production of "Blood & Oil" will inject $35 million into the Utah economy, as well as create 300 jobs with the hiring of local cast and crew members.

The show is set to premiere Sept. 27 and will air Sunday nights on ABC.
