They first lit off the big aerial fireworks and then moved on to the sparklers.

"I was lighting them one by one, handing them off to kids, and I turned my back to the wind and as I lit it it just went up in a flash," said Singh.

Singh claims a metal sparkler from TNT Fireworks ignited in his left hand.

"It just completely engulfed my hand."

His brother drove him to the emergency room where he learned he wasn't the only one.

"The nurse told me she had three patients right before me in there (being treated) for sparkler burns," he said

It's a common injury across the nation, according to the Consumer Products Safety Commission, which reports an average of 230 people a day go to the emergency room with fireworks-related injuries around the Fourth of July holiday. Singh suffered 2nd-degree burns and doctors had to operate. Now he's facing several weeks of physical therapy

"I got (burned) in between every single finger, too," he said as he showed his wounds. "That's the damage."

He said he called TNT to report what happened and a company representative asked him to send pictures, which he did. As the pain begins to subside, he's worried about the lingering effects of his injury.

"My No. 1 tool is my hands because I work with garage doors," he said. "I'm out of work now for several weeks, and that's how I provide for my family. It's going to be pretty rough."

KSL reached out to TNT but didn't receive a call back. Singh said he would like his medical expenses reimbursed and wanted to warn others so it doesn't happen to someone else.
