BOUNTIFUL, Utah — Police are searching for a man who they say burglarized 12 residents at an assisted living center in downtown Bountiful.
On July 1, a man entered the Legacy House of Bountiful, an assisted senior living home at 79 E. Center Street. The man went from room to room, searching people’s drawers for cash and jewelry, according to Bountiful Assistant Police Chief Ed Biehler. Some residents were in the room sleeping during the theft, he said.
Employees eventually noticed the man and confronted him, Biehler said. The man ran away and employees chased him, but lost him a couple of blocks away.
Detectives don’t have an exact dollar amount of what was stolen but say that 12 residents had cash, jewelry and credit cards taken.
He knew that (senior center) would be an easy target for him, as long as nobody would recognize him or think he's out of place.

“He knew that (senior center) would be an easy target for him, as long as nobody would recognize him or think he’s out of place,” Biehler said.
The suspect is described as a black male with a bald head, wearing sunglasses and a yellow shirt with wings on it. Investigators are working on obtaining fingerprints to help identify the suspect.
