OGDEN — A wrong-way driver trying to run from police didn't get far before crashing, police said.

Officers noticed a Jeep Grand Cherokee traveling recklessly near 25th Street and G Avenue in Ogden Sunday night, Lt. Will Cragun of the Ogden Police Department said in a news release. When officers tried to pull over the vehicle, it fled the scene.

The Jeep eventually turned onto the I-15 off-ramp at 24th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue and entered the freeway going the wrong way, Cragun said.

The officers also slowly made their way up the off-ramp. They discovered the vehicle they were following had dodged several oncoming cars and then crashed on the east side of the freeway.

Police saw three people exit the car. They caught two of the suspects immediately and set up a containment and caught the third.

Officers arrested Amanda Rose, 21, Patrick Guillen, 24, and Aaron Liptrap, 30. Liptrap was the driver and also was in possession of drug paraphernalia, Cragun said.

He identified all three as members of the Ogden Trece gang. The trio was booked into the Weber County Jail for investigation on numerous charges.

No one was injured in the crash. However, an officer was injured climbing a fence while pursuing the suspects. He was treated at a hospital for minor puncture wounds and cuts to his hands then released, Cragun said.
