SALT LAKE CITY — It has been busy week for an apostle of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints who has been traveling in Great Britain over the past several days.

One of the highlight's of Elder Jeffrey R. Holland's trip to England was on Wednesday when he addressed several members of the British Parliament about the involvement LDS Charities has with the AMAR Foundation, which provides humanitarian aid in war-torn countries.

But for college-age Latter-day Saints in England, Elder Holland's discussion with them on Thursday evening was a rare opportunity for them to interact with an LDS apostle in person.

The history and culture, combined with the beauty of the country, made the visit to England one to remember. Being in the unique setting of a 19th century Unitarian chapel on the campus of Oxford University added to the experience.

It was standing room only as Elder Holland spoke to a congregation, mostly in their 20s.

Elder Holland, who served as an LDS missionary in Great Britain as a young man, urged those in attendance to live their faith, even during life's struggles. He also emphasized to those Latter-day Saints that every individual matters.

British Latter-day Saints called Elder Holland's message inspiring. Many said they left with a greater conviction about their beliefs.

“I got a lot of answers I was looking for and I have been really inspired by the words he said,” Jessica Mooie said.

Earlier in the day on Thursday, Elder Holland was in the audience as his son and president of Utah Valley University, Matthew Holland, participated in a panel at Oxford on the leadership qualities of Abraham Lincoln.
