SUNSET, Davis County — The Sunset Police Department located the mother of a 2-year-old child that was found alone Friday afternoon.
In a Facebook post Friday, Sunset City released a photo of a 2-year-old boy they say was located in the area of 900 North and 300 West in Sunset. The post said police had been looking for the parents for approximately two hours, but had no luck finding the boy's parents.
The mother fell asleep and believed other family members had the toddler, according to Sunset Police Chief Ken Eborn. The boy slipped out of the house through a dog door and wandered down the street before a neighbor found the boy and contacted police, Eborn said.
The mother of the boy later contacted the police after searching the neighborhood while police canvassed the area. Eborn said the family was new to the area and many around the neighborhood didn't recognize the boy.
Eborn said the child was in good condition and that no charges would be filed against the mother. A neighbor took care of the toddler while police helped locate the mother.
