SALT LAKE CITY — A 22-year-old Magna man was charged Tuesday in the January stabbing of his roommate.
Fily Esparza was charged in 3rd District Court with aggravated assault, a second-degree felony, after police say he stabbed his 34-year-old roommate twice, once in the back and once in the chest, puncturing both of the victim's lungs on Jan. 21.
The stabbing happened following an argument at 5137 S. 4800 West, where the men lived with multiple renters, according to charging documents.
The victim was taken to a local hospital in serious condition after the stabbing.
