HERRIMAN — For Kylee Stamper and her best friend, Brenna Vincent, last night was just a typical Saturday night out with friends.

Around 11 p.m., Stamper, 16, was driving eastbound on 13400 South near 6200 West when she heard a loud noise.

“We heard three really loud bangs, like gunshots, and (something) hit our window,” Stamper said.

“We were screaming, and we just slammed on the brakes and then, like, swerved," she said. "And then we realized our window was shattered.”

Shaken up, Stamper and her 17-year-old friend pulled the car over and parked at a nearby Walgreens to call police.

“I was pretty confident it was a gunshot,” Stamper said. “I hunt a lot; I know what a gun sounds like.”

It was a close call.

“Once we realized the hole was right next to my head, that’s when we started to cry. What if I was driving a little slower?,” Stamper said.

Unified Police Lt. Justin Hoyal said his department received reports of three damaged cars in the area the teens were driving in Saturday night. But as of Sunday night, investigators were not sure if the damage was caused by gunshots.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call the Unified Police Department at 801-743-7000.
