SALT LAKE CITY — The condition of a woman who was critically injured in what police say was an intentional hit-and-run incident improved Friday.
The 25 year-old woman was upgraded from critical condition, according to Salt Lake police.
Investigators say Anthony Robert Vigil, 29, the woman's boyfriend, purposely ran her over with a Lincoln Town Car after a domestic argument Thursday evening near 200 W. Mead Ave. Vigil allegedly fled the scene, but was later arrested in South Salt Lake and booked into the Salt Lake County Jail for investigation of aggravated assault and domestic violence in the presence of a child.
Salt Lake police detective Cody Lougy initially described the woman's critical injuries as "very serious" and said the department's homicide unit was called to the scene in case she didn't survive.
Vigil, the victim and several others were involved in a dispute inside a home when it "spilled out into the street," a police report states.
"At some point Vigil got into his vehicle, accelerated rapidly toward 200 West, made an aggressive U-turn and then accelerated back towards the group," the report states.
Vigil then allegedly struck his girlfriend and her brother. The woman's brother suffered minor injuries.
