IRON COUNTY — Police were called to an altercation early Friday morning involving around 20 students from Canyon View and Cedar High Schools.
The fight broke out near the Three Peaks Recreational area around 4:35 a.m., according to the Iron County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies were dispatched to the scene and discovered about 20 juveniles were involved in the altercation.
The juveniles had been in two separate camping groups before the fight, the sheriff’s office said. Investigators found several airsoft guns, baseball bats and a sword at the scene and a vehicle was damaged by one of the bats. However, no one was seriously injured during the altercation.
Five of the juveniles were taken into custody and charged in connection with assault, the sheriff’s office said.
“We are reminding parents to be aware of where your children are going and who they are with,” the Iron County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement. “Summertime can be a dangerous time for youth and youth-related activities.”
